The name of the South African holding company for the group is Master
Plastics. The manufacturing operations trade under the names of Cinqplast
Plastop (Pty) Limited, Plastop (Kwazulu) Natal (Pty) Limited and Cinqpet (Pty)
Limited.
Plastop (Pty) Limited was founded in 1967 and has one of the most modern,
well- equipped facilities, situated in Ekandustria, near Bronkhorstspruit. In
1996 a new state of the art plant was built in Durban, dedicated to Unilever. In
1998 Plastop merged with Cinqplast (Pty) Limited, a factory situated in Denver,
Johannesburg and these merged operations operate under the name of Cinqplast
Plastop (Pty) Limited. An ultra modern PET plant was custom built on the Denver
site and the new equipment was commissioned by January 1999. The investment in
the new plant, as a group over the past 2 years, has been R140m. The Master
Plastics group is recognised as one of the major players in the industry.
The group has been awarded the prestigious, Make-it South Africa
Manufacturing Excellence Award. The success of our business is largely
attributable to our highly technical, state of the art equipment, quality
systems, Cad/ Cam facilities, advanced IT systems along with our dynamic
management team and competent staff.
In 1987 the group signed a license agreement with Wheaton, USA, to supply
technical know-how and equipment. Lawson Mardon Wheaton are world leaders in the
manufacture of quality high-precision moulds and equipment. The group also has a
license agreement with Createchnic, for the supply of closure technology.
Createchnic AG is one of Europe’ s leading closure manufacturers.
The containers produced range in size from 5ml to 5Lt. We also produce a wide
range of closures including flip top caps with in-mould closing.
The customers that we supply are mainly high profile businesses, whose
products are well established, with high visibility and strong brand awareness
amongst their consumers.
The company employs approximately 1100 people with 700 people employed on the
Denver Site, 340 people at the Ekandustria Plant and 63 people in Durban.
The group’s objective has always been to be a world-class supplier. It is our
aim to provide zero defect products. With this in mind we received ISO rating in
2000.
